Soldering terminology

Very thin oxide layer forming on superimposed metals. Actually, it is more appropriate to speak of amorphous material instead of oxides. Despite its thinness, the tarnish layer has considerable effect on solderability. For example, soldering failure may occur in ultrasonic soldering if the performance is too low.
