Kauri-butanol value
The name kauri comes from the kauri tree which is indigenous to New Zealand and its resin is used for producing varnish. The kauri-butanol value is obtained by comparing the solubility of this resin in butanol with the solubility in other solvents and corresponds well to the solubility of rosin in various solvents. For example, rosin is well soluble in trichloroethane, for which the value is 124. It is mainly used in the evaluation of solvents for cleaning fluxing agent. Also known as Kauri butyrate factor. |
