Flame resistance
With respect to PCBs, flame resistance is used instead of anti-combustion or combustion resistance. This is related to the procedure of inspection when a flame is held onto the board until it ignites and then the time is measured until the flame is extinguished. This property is important for evaluating the risk of fire through the inflammation of the board while in use, which may arise due to the overheating of components installed on it. This effect is mitigated by mixing the base material of low flammability halogen compounds. As part of the fire resistance test, a distinction is made between horizontal and vertical ignition, based on the mounting of the plate. These tests are specified in JIS standard K6911, 5-24. |
